Rapid screening method for the determination of platinum and palladium in geological materials by batch ion-exchange chromatography and graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry
Abstract
A method is proposed for the rapid separation of platinum and palladium from the major elements in geological materials. Following digestion with aqua regia, platinum and palladium are adsorbed on to the anion exchanger Dowex 1-X8 in the batch mode. After washing and isolation, the resin is ignited and the residue dissolved in nitric acid followed by aqua regia. Platinum and palladium are determined simultaneously by dual channel atomic absorption spectrometry using graphite furnace atomisation.
