Infrared spectra of impurity dipole molecules in polar media

Abstract

The influence of polar condensed media on vibrational spectra of impurity dipole molecules is considered. The calculation technique is based on the use of response functions expressed by path integrals, which are evaluated in the framework of a quasiclassical approximation without using perturbation theory. It is found that the adsorption band acquires Gaussian shape and its width decreases depending on the coupling constant in the strong coupling limit.
