Determination of micelle size and polydispersity by fluorescence quenching. Theory and numerical results
Abstract
A new interpretation of both steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence quenching of a probe molecule in micellar solutions is presented. It is sensitive to weight-average aggregation number as well as to the shape of the micelle size distribution. Numerical results and experimental data are analysed and the results are compared with other techniques and other interpretations of the results. The advantages and drawbacks of the fluorescence quenching technique are discussed.
