Ionization equilibria of cobalt(II) chloride in N,N-dimethylformamide

Abstract

Visible absorption spectra and the molar conductance curve for CoCl2 in N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) have been determined at 25 °C. The results indicate the formation of the Co(DMF)2+6·2CoCl3DMF complex electrolyte which controls the electrolytic properties of the solution. The formation constants of the individual chloro-complexes of cobalt(II) have been calculated.
