Selenium extrusion from a Pt–Se–P bond sequence and selenium insertion into a Pt–P bond

Abstract

[Pt(η2-dppmSe2)2](O3SCF3)2 decomposes by stepwise selenium extrusion via[Pt(η2-dppmSe2)(η2-dppmSe)](O3SCF3)2 to [Pt(η2-dppmSe)2](O3SCF3)2; the latter compound is also formed by the reaction of [Pt(η2-dppm)2]Cl2 and selenium or by rearrangement of [Pt(η2-dppm)(η2-dppmSe2)](O3SCF3)2[dppm = bis(diphenylphosphino)methane].
