A hexanuclear oxovanadium (IV) anionic aggregate containing µ2- and µ6-carbonato groups: synthesis and structural characterization of (NH4)5[(VO)6(CO)4(OH)9]·10H2O

Abstract

The reaction of VOCl2 with NH4HCO3 under CO2 afforded the title complex, shown by X-ray crystallography to contain a crown-shaped hexanuclear oxovanadium(IV) anion featuring bridging hydroxo and carbonato groups; the aggregate lies at a site of symmetry m and has approximate 3m symmetry, with one carbonato group functioning in a novel µ6 mode.
