Non-planar and conformationally mobile dianions of cyclo-octatetraene systems

Abstract

Novel isopropyl-substituted di- and tri-benzocyclo-octatetraenes are reduced to the corresponding dianions which, from their n.m.r. spectroscopic description, appear to be the first examples of conformationally mobile, ionic cyclo-octatetraene systems.
