Total synthesis of neothramycin

Abstract

An efficient total synthesis of neothramycins A (1a) and B (1b) was achieved from the key intermediate (11) which was prepared from o-halogenoaniline derivative (3) and hydroxy-1-proline (4) by use of palladium catalysed carbonylation.
