Carbonylation of (ButO)3W
CNMe2 and (PriO)3(py)2W
CNMe2(py = pyridine): two different modes of carbon–carbon bond formation
Abstract
Addition of CO (1 atm) to hydrocarbon solutions of (ButO)3WCNMe2, (1), leads to [(ButO)3W(µ-OCCNMe2)]2, (3), by coupling of the carbonyl and alkylidyne carbon atoms whereas, under similar conditions, (PriO)3(py)2W
CNMe2, (2), and CO give (CO)2(PriO)W(µ-OPri)3W(OPri)2[η2-C2(NMe2)2], (4), via alkylidyne–alkylidyne carbon coupling.
