Spectrophotometric determination of boron in nuclear-grade uranium oxides with curcumin after extraction with 2-ethylhexane-1,3-diol

Abstract

Trace amounts of boron are determined in uranium oxides spectrophotometrically with curcumin after prior extraction with 2-ethylhexane-1,3-diol. The concentration range of the method is 0.1–5 µg of B per gram of U, with a standard deviation of 0.03 µg of B per gram of U. A low bias of 15% is observed in U3O8 reference standards.
