2′-Mercapto-4-propylacetanilide: an alternative to thionalide for precipitating lead from weak acid solution
Abstract
Six compounds containing the thioglycolic acid group (—NHCOCH2SH) were compared with thionalide for precipitating microgram amounts of lead from acetate-buffered solutions at pH 5. Consistently higher recoveries (ca. 80%) were obtained with 2′-mercapto-4-propylacetanilide than with thionalide (ca. 60%).
