Unusual bonding in bicyclotetrasilane vs. bicyclobutane: a theoretical study

Abstract

Bicyclotetrasilane, compared with its carbon analogue bicyclobutane, has an unusually labile central bond; the ring strain energies are comparable, but the ring separation energies opposite in sign.
