Electrochemical properties of 1-oxa-6,6aλ4-dithia-2,5-diazapentalene derivatives

Abstract

The electrochemical properties of a number of 1-oxa-6,6aλ4-dithia-2,5-diazapentalenes have been studied by cyclic voltammetry and e.s.r. spectroscopy. In general, these compounds have half-peak reduction potentials in the range –380 to –540 mV (vs. Ag–AgCl). The reduction of these heterapentalenes leads to the formation of stable anion radicals, the e.s.r. spectra of which have been characterised.
