Cyclopalladated derivatives of 2,4′-bipyridine
Abstract
2,4′-Bipyridine (C10H8N2) reacts with palladium(II) acetate in acetic acid to form the cyclopalladated dimer [{Pd(C10H7N2)(µ-O2CMe)}2]. Metathesis with aqueous lithium chloride results in the formation of the chloro-bridged analogue [{ Pd(C10H7N2)(µ-Cl)}2], which reacts with monodentate or bidentate ligands to form mononuclear complexes [PdCl(C10H7N2) L], [Pd (C10H7N2) L2]Cl (L = PBun3) or [Pd(C10H7N2)L](L = pentane-2,4-dionate or S2CNEt2) respectively.
