[Fe2S2(OAr)4]2–: iron–sulphur dimers with terminal phenolate ligands

Abstract

[Fe2S2(OAr)4]2– complexes, synthesised by ligand exchange of [Fe2S2Cl4]2– with ArO characterised by electornic, n.m.r., i.r., and Raman spectroscopy and shown to undergo one electron reduction to give species having e.s.r. spectra closely related to those for [2Fe–2S] proteins of the Rieske type
