Application of pyrolysis-chemical ionisation mass spectrometry to lichenology

Abstract

A procedure for pyrolysis-mass spectrometry is described and mass pyrograms are presented. Protonated molecular ions are observed that permit the characterisation of thermally labile lichen substances, gyrophoric acid and tenuiorin, by using a computerised mass spectrometer in the chemical ionisation mode.
