The radical-anions of p-nitrobenzyl bromide and p-nitrobenzyl chloride, produced by irradiation of p-nitrobenzyl bromide and p-nitrobenzyl chloride with 60Co γ-rays at 77 K, have been identified by e.s.r. spectroscopy.
