Stereoselective synthesis of quaternary carbon atoms

Abstract

Repeated deprotonation and alkylation of [(η-5C5H5)Fe(PPh3)(CO)([double bond, length as m-dash][graphic omitted]H2)]+ allows the stereoselective synthesis of quarternary carbon centres to be achieved with decomplexation leading to 2,2-dialkylbutyrolactones.
