The oxirane radical cation

Abstract

The 2B1 and 2A1 states of the oxirane radical cation, which are suggested by MP2/6-31G*//6-31G* calculations to be very close in energy, both have small barriers to ring-opening via disrotatory and conroatatory processes, respectively.
