Tetrakis(methylthio)ethene as a bidentate chelating and quadridentate bridging thioether

Abstract

In the complex [PtClMe{(MeS)2C[double bond, length half m-dash]C(SMe)2}] the thioether functions as a bidentate chelate, and in [(PtBrMe3)2(MeS)2C[double bond, length half m-dash]C(SMe)2] as a bridging quadridentate ligand. In both compounds sulphur inversion is fast at room temperature.
