[Cr(CO)5Xe] in solution; the first spectroscopic evidence

Abstract

[Cr(CO)5Xe] is identified, from its νC–O i.r. bands, as a relatively long-lived species (t½ca. 2 s at –98 °C) generated by u.v. photolysis of [Cr(CO)6] dissolved in liquefied Xe or liquefied Kr doped with Xe.
