Characterization of a new one-dimensional conductor formed by partial oxidation of magnus green salt

Abstract

The reaction of Magnus green salt [Pt(NH3)4][PtCl4] in HClO4(1 M) with various (chloro)(hydroxo)PtIV complexes or with H2O2 gives a single phase partially oxidized conducting salt which contains directly interacting Pt atom chains (Pt–Pt 2.85 Å) adjacent to parallel chlorine bridged PtII–PtIV chains.
