A new simple approach to aza-azulene synthesis

Abstract

The spray pyrolysis or solution thermolysis of trans-2-chlorohydrinden-1-azidoformate yields 4-aza-azulene with concomitant elimination of nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and hydrochloric acid.
