A macropolyhedral polymetallaborane cluster: molecular structure of the seventeen-vertex triplatinaheptadecaborane [(PhMe2P)4Pt3B14H16]
Abstract
The molecular structure of the novel seventeen-vertex macropolyhedral trimetallaborane [(PhMe2P)4Pt3B14H16] may be interpreted either in terms of a formal pentadecahapto complex of a 7,7′-bi(arachno-heptaboranyl)-type ligand co-ordinated η4, η5, and η6 to the three metal centres, or in terms of a nido-type 2,7,10-trimetallaundecaborane cluster conjoined to an iso-arachno-6,8-dimetallanonaborane cluster with three adjacent vertices PtBPt in common.
