Abstract

A novel closo-iridium(III) complex, [1-(PPh3)-2-H-2,2(PPh3)2-2,10-IrCB8H8], has been isolated as one of several products from the reaction of [IrCl(PPh3)3] with the arachno-[CB8H13]– anion; the position of the cluster carbon atom indicates the process by which the cage rearrangement occurs.
