The preparation and structure of [Co3(η-C5H5)33-CNC6H11)(µ3-S)]; the first example of an organoisocyanide as a triply bridging, two-electron donor ligand

Abstract

The reaction of [Co(η-C5H5)(Co)(PPh3)] with RNCS in refluxing benzene gives [Co(η-C5H5)(PPh3)(η2-PhNCS-C,S)] and [Co3(η-C5H5)3(µ3-CNR)(µ3-S)](2)(R = Me, C6H11, or Ph); the structure of (2; R = C6H11) has been determined by an X-ray diffraction study.
