Oxidation of a diphosphene and dechlorination of an arylphosphonic dichloride: isolation of the diphosphene oxide

Abstract

The dechlorination reaction of the phosphonic dichloride ArP(O)Cl2(Ar = 2,4,6-Bu2tC6H2) with magnesium gave the sterically protected diphosphene oxide ArP(O)= PAr as a stable compound.
