Oxytetracycline biosynthesis: mode of incorporation of [1-13C]- and [1,2-13C2]-acetate

Abstract

Determination of the mode of incorporation of [1-13C]- and [1,2-13C2]-acetate into oxytetracycline by Streptomyces rimosus, has established the exclusive polyketide origin of the tetracyclic nucleus and the direction of folding of a hypothetical linear intermediate.
