Molecular polarisability. Anisotropies of germanium-containing groups

Abstract

Electric birefringences and dipole moments of organogermanes are analysed in conjunction with data from Raman band intensities to deduce anisotropic polarisabilities of germanium-containing groups. From the results a polarisability additivity scheme can reasonably be proposed for these molecules as solutes.
