The hydrolysis of metal ions. Part 4. Indium(III)

Abstract

The hydrolysis of indium(III) has been investigated by potentiometric titration at 25 °C in 0.10 mol dm–3 potassium nitrate. Data treatment by our version of MINIQUAD has shown the ‘best’ model to be [In(OH)]2+,[In(OH)2]+, and [Inp(OH)p]2p+; the –log βpq values for these species are estimated to be 4.31 (0.003), 9.35 (0.01), and 7.32 (0.006)(p= 4) or 9.12 (0.009)(p= 5) respectively, the estimated standard deviations being given in parentheses.
