Behaviour of an N-(o-hydroxybenzyl)-β-amino-acid in the presence of dehydrating agents. Synthesis of a 3,4-dihydro-2H-1,3-benzoxazine
Abstract
Treatment of N-(2-hydroxy-3,5-dimethylbenzyl)-β-aminopropanoic acid with dehydrating agents gives 3,4-dihydro-3-(2-hydroxy-3,6-dimethylbenzyl)-6,8-dimethyl-2H-1,3 benzoxazine; a reaction pathway is proposed, involving loss of keten.
