Photogeneration of singlet oxygen from TiO2 surfaces
Abstract
Under u.v. irradiation, slow photodesorption of O2 occurs from highly hydroxylated TiO2(Anatase) surfaces as a result of H2O2 photogeneration and its further photodecomposition into H2O and O2. Data are now reported indicating that when these TiO2 surfaces are doped with chloride ions and irradiated, the above process is enhanced while most of the O2 evolved is now in its singlet state.
