A 119Sn Mössbauer study of a single crystal of α-SnF2 shows that the sign of eQVzz in this compound is positive. Mössbauer data for α-PbSnF4 are reported. Examination of the spectra from partially oriented crystallites of α-PbSnF4 show that the sign of eQVzz is also positive.
