Some binuclear complexes of platinum containing single PF2 bridges

Abstract

Reaction between [PtH(X)(PEt3)2] and PF2X (X = Cl, Br, or I) in CD2Cl2 at room temperature gives [(Et3P)2XPtPF2Pt(PEt2)X2], which have been characterised by 31P and 19F n.m.r. spectroscopy and by analysis. At low temperature the complexes [PtH2X2(PEt3)2] and trans-[PtX(PF2H)(PEt3)2] have been detected as intermediates, and n.m.r. parameters for the latter are given. A mechanism for the reaction is suggested.
