Pentakis(methoxycarbonyl)cyclopentadiene chemistry: unexpected replacement of Co2Me groups by H: formation and the X-ray crystal structure of a novel rhodicinium salt [Rh{η5-C5H2(CO2Me)3}2][C5(CO2Me)5]

Abstract

Tetra-acetatodirhodium reacts with HC5(CO2-Me)5 to give [Rh{η5-C5H2(CO2Me)3}2][C5(CO2Me)5] by unusual replacement of two CO2Me groups on each η5 ligand by H, as revealed by an X-ray structural determination.
