Flash photolysis of N-bromo-3,3-dimethylglutarimide: detection of the imidyl radical
Abstract
A trasient, ascribed to an imidyl radical, has been observed in the flash photolysis of N-bromo-3,3-dimethylglutarimide in carbon tetrachloride solution; both the transient as well as the precursor were quenched by 3,3-dimethylbut-1-ene while cyclohexane quenched the transient but not the precursor.
