Novel synthesis of the 7-oxo-1,3-diazabicyclo[3.2.0]heptane and 8-oxo-1,3-diazabicyclo[4.2.0]octane ring systems

Abstract

4-Vinyl- and 4-allyl-azetidin-2-ones (1) and (2) have been converted into the imines (5) and (19) respectively, while use of azetidin-2-ones in which the double bond was substituted with a methoxycarbonyl group allowed the synthesis of the enamines (13) and (21).
