Comparison of u.v.–visible spectra of iron(I)–porphyrin– and iron(II)–porphyrin (thiolato)-(thiocarbonyl) and -(carbene) complexes. Relevance to ferrous cytochrome P450 complexes

Abstract

Addition of alkylthiolates to FeII(porphyrin)-(carbene or CS) complexes and the electrochemical one-electron reduction of these complexes has given, respectively, the FeII(porphyrin)(RS)(carbene of CS) and FeI(porphyrin)(carbene or CS) complexes which are stable enough to allow comparison of their u.v.–visible spectra.
