The biosynthesis of asperlactone: incorporation studies with [2-13C, 2-2H3]acetate

Abstract

The C-7 methyl group of asperlactone (1) retains up to two hydrogens from [2-13C,2-2H3]acetate; the involvement of intermediates in which this carbon forms part of an aromatic ring is thus discounted.
