Synthesis and X-ray crystal structure of a Wv metallocycle [{W(CH2C6H4CH2-o)2O}2Mg(tetrahydrofuran)4]

Abstract

Reaction of[WCl4(O)] with eithero-C6H4(CH2MgCl)2 or Mg{(CH2)2C6H4-o}(htf) in tetrahydrofuran (thf) gives the WV complex [{[graphic omitted]H2-o2[graphic omitted]g(thf)4], (1)via Wv oxochloride intermediates; that one of the o-xylidene chelating ligands has a large fold angle (66·1%deg;, of 42·.4° for the other) possibly owing to an aromatic π-interaction with the tungsten atom.
