Triplet states of porphyrin esters

Abstract

Laser flash photolysis and pulse radiolysis have been used to obtain triplet–triplet spectra, extinction coefficients, quantum yields of formation, rates of decay and quenching by oxygen of the triplet states of seven porphyrin esters (mesoporphrin, deuteroporphyrin, photoprotoporphyrin isomers, coproporphyrins I and II and uroporphyrin I). Results on protoporphyrin, reported elsewhere, are included for comparison.
