Static and dynamic aspects of order and disorder in CBr4

Abstract

In the first part of this paper is presented a review of experimental work carried out on CBr4: X-ray and neutron diffraction, neutron diffuse scattering and neutron coherent inelastic scattering. Comparison is made with CD4, and it is deduced that translational and rotational motions are coupled in CBr4. Then in the second part, some consideration is given to the development of a model of translation–rotation coupling using the theoretical work of Yasuda on CD4.
