Vacuum ultraviolet photolysis of hydrogen sulphide
Abstract
A kinetic study of the vacuum ultraviolet photolysis of hydrogen sulphide at 147 nm is presented. The decomposition paths of hydrogen sulphide have been investigated using hydrogen atom scavengers (C2H4 and C4H6). The quantum yield of hydrogen has been measured to be 1.03 ± 0.03. Formation of radicals and hydrogen atoms is shown to be the major path of decomposition with a quantum yield of 0.99 ± 0.02 hv+ H2S → HS + H. (3)
