Enthalpy–entropy relations in the fluid kinetics of aqueous solvent systems
Abstract
An evaluation is presented of enthalpy–entropy relations in the fluid kinetics of aqueous solvent systems and the majority of these exhibit characteristic relations which are non-linear in form. Despite their characteristic nature, only four types of non-linear dependence are discernible, irrespective of marked chemical disparity between solute or second component species. These observations are attributed to the manner by which the foreign entities perturb the random hydrogen bond network of bulk water. Such effects could significantly alter the molecular motions of chemical reactions in aqueous solutions and thus contribute materially to the enthalpy–entropy relations of chemical kinetics.
