Some metal complexes of 2,4-dichloro-1,3-di-t-butyldiazadiphosphetidine

Abstract

Reactions of (Bu^tNPCl)₂ with [Fe₂(CO)₉], [{RhCl(CO)₂}₂], [Mn₂(CO)₁₀], and TiCl₄ give new metal complexes incorporating the four-membered ring system as a bidentate P-donor. Both bridging and chelating behaviour is observed. In the case of [Fe₂(CO)₉] both complexes, i.e.[Fe(CO)₃{(ClPNBu^t)₂}] and [Fe₂(CO)₇{(ClPNBu^t)₂}], have been isolated from tetrahydrofuran solutions depending on the presence or otherwise of a gaseous CO atmosphere. For each complex, i.r. and ¹H and ³¹P n.m.r. spectral information is discussed in relation to a proposed structural formulation.
