Some metal complexes of 2,4-dichloro-1,3-di-t-butyldiazadiphosphetidine

Abstract

Reactions of (ButNPCl)2 with [Fe2(CO)9], [{RhCl(CO)2}2], [Mn2(CO)10], and TiCl4 give new metal complexes incorporating the four-membered ring system as a bidentate P-donor. Both bridging and chelating behaviour is observed. In the case of [Fe2(CO)9] both complexes, i.e.[Fe(CO)3{(ClPNBut)2}] and [Fe2(CO)7{(ClPNBut)2}], have been isolated from tetrahydrofuran solutions depending on the presence or otherwise of a gaseous CO atmosphere. For each complex, i.r. and 1H and 31P n.m.r. spectral information is discussed in relation to a proposed structural formulation.
