Viscoelectric effect in n-decanol and amyl acetate

Abstract

Measurement of the bulk viscosity of n-decanol and amyl acetate in the presence of a static electric field without transverse currents shows that the viscosity decreases in proportion to the square of the field, and that the effect varies with temperature.
