Chiral acyl anion equivalents: asymmetric synthesis of α-methoxytolualdehyde

Abstract

Condensation of a chiral dithioacetal mono-S-oxide anion with benzaldehyde leads to α-methoxytolualdehyde with high chemical and optical yield.
