N-Hydroxymethylmorpholine, the product of the reaction of morpholine with formaldehyde, is an efficient H-donor molecule in the hydrodimerisation of butadiene catalysed by nickel(0) complex–phosphine systems; N-formylmorpholine is obtained as a byproduct.
