Synthesis of dimetal compounds from metal carbene complexes; X-ray crystal structures of two forms of [(OC)4Mn{µ-(1-σ,1-2-η-C:CH·CH2·CH2·O)}Pt(PMe3)2]

Abstract

The complexes [M{C(OMe)R}(CO)5](M = Cr, Mo, or W; R = Me or Ph) and [Mn{C(OMe)Ph}(CO)2(η-C5H5)] react with d10 species (Pt0, Pd0, or Ni0) to afford heteronuclear dimetal compounds with bridging carbene ligands; X-ray diffraction studies on a product from [Mn2(CO)9([graphic omitted]H2)] and [Pt(C2H4)(PMe3)2] have identified two isomers of [MnPt(µ-C4H5O)(CO)4(PMe3)2] with a (1-σ, 1-2-η-C:CH) group bridging a Pt–Mn bond.
