Relaxation processes of hydrogen bonded species in a polystyrene matrix

Abstract

Various hydrogen bonded complexes of the type N—H…N within a polystyrene matrix have been characterized by means of their Eyring energy of activation parameters. The dielectric absorption of the complexes was completely separated from that of the parent molecules and this enabled a much more accurate determination of the activation parameters than would be feasible by the study of such systems in the liquid state, where overlap of the dielectric absorption processes normally occurs.
